Double victory for our College at the HSBC Malta Foundation Climate Action Network School Competition
Towards the end of last year, the HSBC Malta Foundation announced the winners of the 2021 Climate Competition, in which primary and middle school students were asked to create projects themed in relation to environmental protection. The initiative was organised within the framework of HSBC’s Climate Action Network by the ‘Future Generation’ team.
In the middle schools’ contest, the top three submissions were invited to participate in a climate related quiz. Two of the entries included ‘Go green in your house one month a time’ by Nicolai Cassar and ‘An idea for the Maltese Government’ by William St Angelo, both students attending our Secondary School. The quiz, held on 29 November 2021 and led by the HSBC Alumni team, resulted in a victory for our team! Well done, boys! (featured below)
The competition also attracted significant interest among primary schools with more than 250 entries, with our talented Prep 2 student, Nick Micallef (featured below left) placing first with his fantastic entry ‘Barrakka Gardens’. We, at St Aloysius College, have the environment at heart and work with our students for its conservation and preservation. This experience was an opportunity for the children to learn about local private and public gardens in a creative manner.

in line with the Ambassadors for Change initiative (see below) which complements the school’s Global Citizenship Programme, as part of St Aloysius College Strategic Plan Priority Target: to further develop the school’s global citizenship programme targeting specifically its integration through curricular and cross-curricular activities. Such a programme is inclusive of the implementation of the College’s green policy, partnership between Jesuit schools and respect towards people coming from diverse religious, cultural and linguistic background.
