MESSAGE FROM OUR RECTOR IN LIGHT OF UPE STATEMENT

MESSAGE FROM OUR RECTOR IN LIGHT OF UPE STATEMENT

Dear parents/guardians and members of staff,

I am writing to put your mind at rest regarding the two students attending our Secondary School, from the same family who tested positive last week.

The Union of Professional Educators (UPE) has caused alarm and panic among you because of the post on their Facebook page.

Such information is very misleading. You know that at our Secondary School we have had very few cases so far.

We also inform all stakeholders regarding our cases and the measures we take to keep all safe. This has been, is, and will continue to be our policy so that all feel safe at our school.

Please ignore statements by the UPE regarding Covid-19 cases. It is very unprofessional and unethical to use such tactics that cause false alarms among our stakeholders.

We will continue to inform you of any development regarding Covid-19 cases and mitigating measures in our school.

Thank you very much for your cooperation.

Best regards,

Fr Jimmy sj

REOPENING OF CHURCH SCHOOLS – STATEMENT BY THE SECRETARIAT FOR CATHOLIC EDUCATION

REOPENING OF CHURCH SCHOOLS – STATEMENT BY THE SECRETARIAT FOR CATHOLIC EDUCATION

The Secretariat for Catholic Education (SfCE) in consultation with the Church Schools Association (CSA) has taken note of the sharp increase in COVID-19 cases reported by Public Health Authorities, reaching a significant peak today 6th January 2021. The number of positive cases are expected to remain high in the coming few days. In view of this, on Thursday 7th and Friday 8th January, Church Schools will be teaching online.
This will allow schools to offer an education which safeguards the health and safety of students, staff members and their families. This measure may be extended at least till Wednesday 13th January if the trend in positive cases remains high. Parents will be informed through their respective schools by this Sunday evening, 10th January.
The Secretariat reminds that health and safety remains paramount. This precautionary measure will help contain the increase in cases and avoid greater hardships on families if they have to quarantine themselves as a result of contact with positive cases in schools. Everyone’s cooperation is required to ensure a safer environment.
