Celebrated every year on the 21st March, World Down Syndrome Day (WDSD) is a global awareness day which has been officially observed by the United Nations since 2012.

DID YOU KNOW…

  1. The date for WDSD being the 21st day of the third month, was selected to signify the uniqueness of the triplication (trisomy) of the 21st chromosome which causes Down syndrome.
  2. On a local level, the Down Syndrome Association Malta actively promotes the interests, developments and inclusion in society of persons with Down Syndrome.
  3. You can become a World Down Syndrome Advocate! Join the campaign which aims to create a single global voice advocating for the rights, inclusion and well being of people with Down Syndrome.

THE ODD SOCK CAMPAIGN

By wearing your odd socks on the 21st of March, and telling your friends and families to do the same while explaining the reason why, you will be raising more awareness.
