July 31st is the feast day of the Founder of the Society of Jesus; St Ignatius of Loyola.

From a noble and soldier to pilgrim and founder, he was a truly different kind of saint, often described as ‘worldly’, who encouraged his followers, the Jesuits, to ‘find God in all things’.

Today, as part of the global Ignatian community, we are invited ‘to see all things new in Christ’ by reflecting, discerning, and sharing throughout this special Ignatian Year, as Ignatius and his followers once did and continue to do.

Check out this interesting series of well-presented videos (in Italian), which reflect on the life and work of St Ignatius of Loyola.

And finally, let us embrace St Ignatius’ spirit through his prayer, ‘Trust in Jesus’:

O Christ Jesus,
when all is darkness
and we feel our weakness and helplessness,
give us the sense of Your presence,
Your love, and Your strength.
Help us to have perfect trust
in Your protecting love
and strengthening power,
so that nothing may frighten or worry us,
for, living close to You,
we shall see Your hand,
Your purpose, Your will through all things.
Amen.
